The Cottar House, which is an old Scots name for a cottage in the grounds of a house, is situated in the centre of Nairn, only a few minutes walk from shops, beaches, river walks, restaurants and twochampionship golf courses. It is a comfortable, well-equipped, newly refurbished cottage offering self-catering accommodation for 2 people, open all year round. The cottage has a digital TV and DVD player, and there is a private garden with outdoor furniture and off-road parking.
Existing mostly in the gardens of Castle Gordon, now demolished, Invergordon golf course is a parkland course, mainly level with open fairways. The course is accessible and forgiving with limitedareas of rough and is ideal for golfers at all levels. Approved golfing carts are allowed for those who wish to use them. All our holes enjoy extensive views of the Cromarty Firth and the course rates as one of the most scenic in Scotland.

Established in 1888 the course was re-designed by the five time Open Champion James Braid in 1932. There is documentary evidence of golf being played over 'Chanonry' which is now called Fortrosedating back to 1702. It was contained in a letter from a Mr George MacKenzie of Balconie, a cousin of the Earl of Seaforth and provost of Fortrose at that time.
