The Isle of Wight's little gem is just 40 minutes away from Southampton or Portsmouth by fast ferry and celebrated its centenary in 2009. This excellent parkland course boasts some of the finestgreens on the island and is located on the edge of Cowes with fantastic views over the Solent. Although nine holes, the course with alternate tees presents a challenging 18 hole test which many golfers have underestimated at their peril.
The D Day landings were made in two stages. Shortly after midnight British, American and Canadian troops were landed by glider and parachute to seize key objectives such as bridges and road crossings.At 6.30am infantry and armoured divisions were landed by amphibious vehicles along the Normandy coast. By the end of that day 160,000 allied troops had been landed and the offensive against the occupying German forces had begun.

Set on the downlands overlooking the English Channel, this seaside links style golf course is 5,725yards long, par 69 which provides a challenge for golfers of all abilities. Ventnor Golf Club is the oldest club on the Isle of Wight and was founded in 1892. The course is in a very pleasant downland and cliff top setting, with probably the best views on the Island. It isunusual in that it is a twelve hole course, with six of the twelve holes being played twice. Alternative tee boxes on several of these holes providing a variation on the back nine. The overall length is approximately 5,700 yards, SSS 68 Par 70. Enjoyable and challenging for both low and high handicappers.
