About the Business
Having taken over as President of Cumbria Union of Golf Clubs for 2015 and 2016 it is both an honour and a privilege to be working with a dedicated executive team and all the clubs throughout the county to promote and encourage the playing of golf. Many clubs over the past few years have seen a steady decline in membership primarily in the mid age range, where pressures of family, work and budgets have taken their toll. It is my, and the executive's, intention to continue to work with the clubs and the county to consolidate all the hard work done over the past few years to recruit and retain membership.
I know from my own club at Barrow that we are beginning to see some improvements in junior, full and ladies membership after several years of effort and initiatives. I hope we can see that success replicated across all clubs throughout the county. With regard to our county teams I am looking forward to a successful 2015.
