Pleasington Golf Club is regarded as one of the premier inland courses in the North of England having hosted many prestigious events during its illustrious history which dates back to 1891. The golfcourse is simply stunning, set in 142 acres of picturesque countryside in the rural village of Pleasington. Originally designed by George Lowe and later extended by Sandy Herd the layout offers the golfer a unique challenge with a wonderful variety of holes.
Dunscar Golf Club was founded in 1908 and is situated in the valley of Galebrook between Turton Heights and Winter Hill. Though only 3 miles from the centre of Bolton, Dunscar offers peace,tranquility and fine uninterrupted views. Dunscar is an 18 hole moorland course and is a challenge to golfers of all levels. At 6,033 yards it is not a short course and you need to pace yourself accordingly.
Here at Rishton Golf Club we used to have a lovely little nine hole golf course until 1982 when Motorway Construction decided that they would take the shortest route from Blackburn to Burnley, Nelson& Colne. They decided that they would use our 8th fairway as a guide and cut right through the middle of it leaving our 7th green and ninth tee a motorway width apart - not good for the members or the business in the clubhouse.
Founded in 1923 as a nine hole course, many further improvements to the original layout have resulted in the splendid 18 hole par 72 championship golf course of today set in 192 acres of matureparkland, frequented by Nick Dougherty who grew up playing on the course. Great Harwood Golf Club is the longest nine-hole layout within the East Lancashire Golf Association. With four par fours to start, the opening holes test a player's ability to drive the ball both longand straight. The par-five fifth is split by a water hazard while the sixth is a par three with five surrounding bunkers that puts a premium on accuracy. A new internal out-of-bounds has made hole seven one of the toughest holes on the course.
