The Club was formed on 4th June 1892 at a meeting in Lockharts Cocoa Rooms in Clayton Street, Newcastle. The first records in the Golfing Journal of the time show it as being named NEWCASTLE UNITEDWORKMEN'S GOLF CLUB which signified that it was for the benefit of all classes, not only the rich and titled, and the spirit of friendship continues to this day. Many people believe that we have connections with the other club of that name namely, the football club.
Golf is a wonderful game: it all started out with a simple stick and a rock. Man took these two items and decided to create a way to entertain himself. After all, what else was there to do for funbefore the 15th century that didn't involve beheadings and fighting wars? We hope our website will provide you with an informative portal into the world of golf in the north east, and throughout all of England.
We are privileged to have a great golf course with modern clubhouse facilities that combine the best of tradition with a firm eye on the future. To visitors: I doubt you will find a more enjoyableexample of a heath land course in the North of England.

Ourcourse is popular with golfers of all abilities, and we are proud to have both local community members and those that travel to Newcastle to take advantage of the course and it's facilities.
